Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in influence within the city.
Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season are included.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of characters who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might look unsuited, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to head next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death started the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the secret base, striking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
- The adventurer has experience in the region and advises that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as key figures in House Halovar could enable the team enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.
What’s Next?
From episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Explorers and Schemers parties.
